The goal of Michigan Dance Council is to make dance an integral part of each citizen's life by supporting performance and educational opportunities, promoting audience development and building alliances.
Membership in the organization is all-inclusive and multidisciplinary. Participation ranges from individual supporters to professional organizations.
Michigan Dance Council is a State Affiliate of the National Dance Education Organization as well as sponsor of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts, which was created to recognize outstanding artistic merit, leadership, and academic achievement in students studying dance in public and private schools in K-12 education, dance studios, cultural/community centers, performing arts organizations, and post-secondary education.

Ann Zirulnik Summer Scholarship
Named after the late Ann Zirulnik, longtime Detroit dance educator, this scholarship awards $200 to TWO qualifying Michigan high school dance students currently enrolled in a dance program at a public or private high school or Michigan dance studio for summer dance study. These scholarships provide high school-age students financial support to further their dance studies over the summer.
The scholarship is open to MDC High School student members only.
Gay Delanghe Summer Scholarship
Named after the late longtime MDC supporter and University of Michigan Faculty member Gay Delanghe, the Gay Delanghe Scholarship awards $500 to qualifying Michigan freshmen, sophomore, or junior college/university dance students for summer dance study. This scholarship provides college-age students support to further their dance studies over the summer.
The scholarship is open to MDC college members only.

The Michigan Dance Council is the oldest established organization dedicated to dance in the state of Michigan. Established in 1995, MDC is the only state-affiliate of the National Dance Education Organization, providing joint memberships between MDC and NDEO. Click here for more information about NDEO.
